National Stop Smoking Centres is the largest independent provider of smoking cessation therapy in the UK,
with more than 250 branches, with well-qualified and experienced hypnotherapists and acupuncturists.
Wherever you live, if the NHS can’t help you to stop smoking we can.
We’ve been doing this since 1991, so we’re pretty good at it.
ABOUT NATIONAL STOP SMOKING CENTRES
We set up back in 1991, and until the establishment of the Foundation we were a workers’ co-operative. We started with what is now Addiction Management, but as well as that we were asked how to find a qualified hypnotherapist or acupuncturist. So we needed to offer these therapies too. Our research showed that smokers’ biggest concern was finding a qualified therapist, one who really understands smoking cessation. We learned that there was no reliable way of judging the qualifications and knowledge of a therapist.
We also found that most acupuncturists don’t actually do smoking cessation, so there was a need to find those who do, and encourage them to develop their skills in this field. So coming to National Stop Smoking Centres means, first and foremost, that you are going to be seen by a therapist with genuine qualifications and experience, backed by the only organisation in the UK that researches stop smoking therapy.
And remember, every hypnotherapy client and acupuncture patient is supported for a full three years by NSSC AfterCare. This means you’re not coming to us just because we have the right therapy and the right therapists, but because we are going to look after you to ensure that every problem is resolved, both during the stopping process and long after. ABOUT THE DOCTOR RICHARD MACKARNESS FOUNDATION
The Foundation is named for the late Dr Mackarness, in his day perhaps the country’s leading specialist in allergy, environmental medicine and, most of all, addiction. It was Dr Mac who first recognised the close relationship between allergy and addiction, which led him to formulate the treatment that today we call Addiction Management.
